alta – or ‘high’ in Portuguese – is inspired by the potential of this amazing city.

Our dispensary, located in the bustling Nolita–Chinatown neighborhood, is part of my family legacy. This building has acted as our family’s Plymouth Rock since my grandparents escaped war-ravaged Mozambique in 1974, purchasing 52 Kenmare Street in 1976 as a foundation to rebuild all they left behind.

Now I want to share these incredible products with other women who may be as intimidated as I was by the distinctly smoke shop-like spaces cannabis is typically sold in.

I’m proud to be the first Asian-American woman to create a space like this in New York. And I’m even more proud to do it in my family’s own building. Catch a glimpse at what you can find at alta.
